Our family is on the brink of a miracle.

Miracle is a word in our society that comes with baggage. The event, timing or experience is always explained away in worldly terms as to how this or that occurred.

But Psalms says “ our God is the one who performs miracles”

On May 10, Our family experienced a life transforming event. Born with CP, my Grandson Ayden received a spinal/nerve surgical procedure in St Louis . This offers the hope of normal mobility, Which sounds impossible .

But Luke says “for nothing is impossible for God”

This is Episode 1 of a 3 part series of our Families experience.

Miracles still happen!

Thyme Boutique was proud to be a part of the Tall Pines Garden Club Fashion Show at the Bottling Company in downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi. We had a fantastic time showcasing a sampling of our fall collection.  We were so excited that newness and energy of Fall 17 was so well received.

This years models were Brooke, Wendy and Amy. They did great.

Brooke got the show started with an outerwear essential in her Olive Anorak rain coat. New this season, The Anorak is the perfect jacket to brave all elements – fog, rain, wind, those chilly mornings and evenings. We have put everyone’s favorite tee by Z supply underneath and front tucked it in the MOTHER superior. This is an easy way to wear a distressed jean while still feeling put together. We are loving the olive with this leopard dot sneaker to bring it all together. We are so excited to introduce Amy Head Lips to you ladies. On Monday every girl in our store was trained by Amy herself and she taught us how to put the perfect Lip with your wardrobe. Brooke has on Coffee Liner with Mystic lipstick and Mint Darling Gloss. After the show we will be set up in the front to do lip makeovers by Amy Head.

Next Kendy is sporting my personal favorite look. A Dylan plaid button down and a slouchy sweater in a dark maroon. Her Jean is a basic by AG, the Farrah high rise skinny can be worn by everyone. As you see in your denim guide a hi rise is perfect to pair with a slide split top to elongate your legs, and who doesn’t want that.UGG is making a huge comeback this season. One of our favorites is this suede bootie with knotted tassel. Her convertible clutch by bedstu can also be worn as a cross body.

Amy is going to close this group out with her Dusty Pink Kerisma Sweater. We are obsessed with these things, they are a perfect weight sweater for our southern fall. We also brought additional colors for you girls to shop after the show. Her pink fur vest is by Dylan and is an awesome way to wear the monochromatic style. Her front seam jean is a perfect accent to her look and a fun way to wear a more on trend jean without feeling too “out there”. Her Ugg Elora bootie in grey has a blocked heel and is easy to wear every day.

This years fashion show and new Members luncheon was held in the Bottling Company in downtown Hattiesburg. Ron and Kelly have done a fantastic job of converting this landmark location into a beautiful gathering place. Old Wood, Back Iorn, and mortared Brick, brings you into a place long sense forgotten.

Stop by Thyme Boutique to shop our entire fall collection, featuring Free People, OTBT, UGG, Barefoot Dreams, Amy Head Lips, and much more.

A question we hear every day in Thyme Boutique is “What is the best denim for my wardrobe?” Hannah and Lindsay are here to help you figure that out.

Let’s talk wash…

Light wash: More casual than your traditional dark wash or black but just as versatile. What started out as a spring staple is now turning into a fall essential. Perfect for Free People dark chunky sweaters and Bed Stu rugged boots to add some dimension and personality to your look.

Distressed: From blown out knees to frayed bottoms. Elevate your every day look with a Z-Supply tee and an UGG sneaker.

Classic Dark: Deep, dark shades without the harsh boldness of black. A good wardrobe is built around a good classic dark jean. It’s an easy transitional jean, perfect for day to night. A crisp, white blouse or a pop of color with a Sanctuary top all brought together with an OTBT bootie.

Basic: A mid-wash jean with no frills. The jean that goes from Walmart pick-up line to lunch, and back to carpool. Layer this look up with your Dylan basic and a plaid shirt or a Barefoot Dreams.

Black: Black is the new…black. We are seeing black in two major ways, clean ultra-black as in the AG contour and distressed as in the Mother weathered ankle fray. Two jeans worn in two different ways. Pair your ultra-black with a Free People turtle neck sweater and UGG suede boot. Wear the distressed black with a Z-Supply pocket tee and popover and UGG wedged classic.

Now, there is rise: One of the most important aspects of getting the right fit in a jean is the rise. Low-rise, is a trend we will gladly leave in the early 2000s. Mid-rise and high-rise, however, have our full attention. Mid-rise jeans will hit closest to your natural waist, are flattering for nearly everybody type, and are perfect for day to day. High-rise jeans, take all the flattering aspects of a mid-rise and literally take it up a notch. High rise jeans, will hit anywhere from 2-3 inches above your natural waist and when paired with the right top will create the illusion of longer legs.

Really, no matter the wash or rise you’re wearing the jean, don’t let the jean wear you.

The guy on the far right is Matt. He and Austin used to wakeboard together back in the day. Matt, who founded the original Ole Miss Wakeboard Team, graduated from Ole Miss in 2008 with degrees in Graphic Design and Computer Wizzardry.

In 2012, we were looking to expand staging-priceandcompany.kinsta.cloud. Matt and his wife, Lindsey, had just moved to Lumberton from Memphis and the timing could not have been better. Matt totally renewed our commitment to our online customers throughout the south. Not only that, he has become our marketing and social media guru, and makes all our TV commercials for Randy Price and Company and Thyme Boutique.

If anyone knows Matt, they know that his style does not directly coincide with the Randy Price brand image. He has long hair, wakeboards, and works on Jeeps in his spare time. However, since Matt and I work so closely with the marketing of the store, we may have rubbed off a little on each other. I have had to learn an alternative lingo (Memphis talk) and he has began to enjoy getting dressed up on occasion, when he has too. Matt has helped me maintain my youth by teaching me the meaning of words like savage, sick, sketchy, and bruh.

All jokes aside, Matt has the talent to take our store marketing to the next level. I have taught him a lot about the marketing of the business and how to use his knowledge of graphic design to build and maintain the image of our store. While he is still learning the ins and outs of marketing, his graphic ability is second to none. Whether it be graphics, websites, or videography, he can do a little of everything.

To get a glimpse into his hobbies and video work, check out this video that he and his friends put together at his house on their home made 2 tower cable wakeboard system.

I know this makes me sound old school..or maybe just old.

I began my retail career 40 years ago, about the same time I was finishing up a Business Degree at USM.  Everyone else wore t’s shirts and jeans to class. I was wearing the latest in men’s suits.(Johnny Carson or Yves St Laurent) .

In 1983, Annette and I got the chance to open Randy Price and Company, thanks to her 1976 Light Blue Buick Cutlass with crushed velvet seats, for collateral..I digress!

In 1978 just about every small town across the South, was home to great manufacturing plants. They would be making everything from clothes, to TV’s, to indoor outdoor carpet. These facilities were always easy to spot when you drove thru small town America, cause that’s where all the cars were.

Then came change. Ross Perot, who was running for President, told the Politician’s of the day, if they were to pass the North America Free Trade Agreement, there would be” a giant sucking sound” of manufacturing leaving our country. Seriously, they did and it was no time before plants were shutting down. American Companies began moving their production lines to cheaper foreign labor. While Small town America took a beating, Our Politics were the toast of every other country. Even the Mexican drug dealers benefited (See NARCOS, season 3). So Long Mom and Pop, Hello Wall Street!

However, My Dad used to say ” What goes around, comes around!”.

I have a friend who could be described as a Venture Capitalist. He invested in an American Made company that was having some issues in Columbia ( MS not SA) He and his folks got it pointed in a new direction, moved it to a larger facility in Tylertown MS.

They are “Ginning”. “Mississippi Made-Just like it used to be”  Proudly waving the “Made in America” Flag  and producing  some of our best Southern brands, some featured right here in Randy Price and Company in beautiful Hattiesburg MS.

Check this out. In Cleveland Tennessee, just east of Shiloh, there is Hardwick Clothing Company. They are making a huge comeback. Suits, Sport coats and Trousers.

The South is a place, North, East and West are just directions.

Amy Head, president of Amy Head Cosmetics, called Lindsay a few weeks back. Amy invited Thyme Boutique and Randy Price and Company to join them Tuesday and Wednesday, August 29-30, at Canebrake Country Club as they introduce Hattiesburg to her specialty Cosmetics.

So this afternoon we went out and set up for this 2 day event that starts in the morning from 9-5. It was so exciting.

Amy Introduced us to her husband Harold and their Daughter McKenzie. We were talking as she was putting out products when she said “Doing this business was not at all a plan I had for my life. As a matter of fact, It began through a lot of doors closing on what I thought I wanted to do. Thank God, literally, for those painful times. They directed me toward something I could have never orchestrated on my own.

She said about her husband Harold. “I could not nor would not have done any of this without him. Harold experienced with me the discovery of my talent and the impact it was having on women. They were not seeing the makeup. They were seeing themselves in an authentically beautiful light for the first time. . We watched as women experienced the special quality of her beauty for what was already apart of them. Therefore, the makeup looked extraordinarily natural and like it belonged.

As Harold photographed all of these faces for my own study, we both grew steadily aware that this was something women needed and that I needed as well. Something the mainstream cosmetic industry clearly was not providing. Harold gave me the support to be faithful to this calling. He carried the entrepreneurial bravery for both of us as we pursued the first Amy Head products and the first Amy Head Studio in 1987. ”

Today, the business has extended to our daughter MacKenzie.  she has started working with us to grow and nurture this brand to reach its true potential. We are all excited to see what that will be.” They have currently Amy Head Cosmetics in Jackson and Oxford, plus a wholesale division.

So stop by and meet Amy, Harold and MacKenzie this Tuesday and Wednesday at Canebrake Country Club. Amy Head Cosmetics, another great Mississippi family Business.

Lindsay and Hannah will be there representing some of our newest fall arrivals. Denim, shoes, boots and more. See you there.
